Parley James Clayton, known lovingly as "Bulldog," has stepped off the field one last time. It seems odd to speak of myself in the past tense, but here we are. Born on a day that seems a lifetime ago, I've spent my years in a whirlwind of laughter, love, and the occasional moment of brilliance. As Mark Twain once said, "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." And live fully, I did.
The world knew me as "Bulldog," a nickname that captured my relentless spirit and tenacity. I was a force to be reckoned with, always charging headfirst into the game of life and relishing every moment of it. But beneath the tough exterior, I was simply Parley James, a man who loved his family deeply and who never missed an opportunity to share a hearty laugh or a wise word. I was smart in my own unique way, always finding solutions where others saw only problems.
I leave this world with many cherished memories and a family that I love beyond measure. I am survived by my beloved Papa, William Clayton, and my dear Father, James Bane. Their strength and love were the driving force behind my every endeavor. As I embark on this new journey, I want to leave you with a quote that has always resonated with me, from J.R.R. Tolkien: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
I invite you all to share your favorite memories and upload photos to my memorial page. Let's turn this farewell into a celebration of a life lived to the fullest. Keep the Bulldog spirit alive by remembering the love, laughter, and lessons we shared.
