The Myers’ story: How Myers Pets at Peace was started ….

Within a two week time period, in December of 2011, both of our cherished family dogs passed away; Jaffa, our gentle 15-year old Brittany Spaniel and Zoe, a 2 year-old rambunctious ball-of-energy Shih Tzu. I will never forget receiving the devastating phone call from our veterinarian about Zoe’s unexpected passing on the operating table after a simple exploratory surgery. Tears flowed freely in our family as we all felt a total emptiness and longing for our bouncy furry friends. Our hearts were broken as we planned our second dog’s funeral within just days of the first. Within our home, children and parents alike experienced deep feelings of grief with both of our four-legged family members gone.

After hours of unsuccessful internet searching, our family felt very disappointed with the lack of compassionate and dignified after-care services available in our community for our pets. Recognizing the need for a unique and compassionate pet loss service and at the same time wanting to help comfort other animal lovers at their time of loss, we created Myers Pets at Peace. With these goals in mind, we felt inspired to construct a building designed to be a comforting and safe place to grieve, where the pet owners would have an opportunity to honor and remember their cherished pets.
